Pros
For most positions, lighter workload in the summer. Each department operates fairly independently. Incredible health care benefits (for full time employees). Good PTO program (for full time employees). Beautiful campus with lots of fine art and creative energy.
Cons
Pay is below market value. Outdated practice of keeping salaries a underground. Considering departments operate independently in that location is sometimes a scrap of lag when you demand something from a different department. HR is in that location solely to protect the school'southward interests.

One-time Employee, less than 1 year
Pros
I found the position to be very educational, and the superiors I interacted were very kind to me. The job itself isn't peculiarly difficult, either, provided you lot're technically-minded.
Cons
In the Computer Blitheness department, you don't have a lot of time. Not everyone can manage the schoolhouse workload plus a campus job, and so merely take that into consideration.

Former Employee, more than 10 years
Pros
Creative environment. Great colleagues. Pretty campus with eager and diverse student body and more often than not proficient conditions.
Cons
- many faculty are non made to feel comfortable in questioning authorisation. Feeling safe and heard is luck of the draw - depending on who your department head is. - Human Resource - or the institution itself - accept non fix a rubber environment for instructors to safely communicate issues with their department head since many Faculty feel the threat of retaliation or punishment from their section heads, should nosotros cull to complain. (The Department head in my section did not create a team environs, rather, was allowed to create a department run by fearfulness.) nosotros tin can practice an annual review of them but it seems pointless and is ineffective. - At that place is a perceived divergence in how women are treated vs male person colleagues - both in opportunities for advancement and in pay.
